how to use CHAP

Problem/Symptom

CHAP (Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol) authenticates a user or network host to an authenticating entity. CHAP requires that both the client and server know the plaintext of the password/secret, although it is never sent over the network.

CHAP also can prevent an iSCSI LUN being accessed by multiple hosts.
 

Solution

  .

  • Go to Control Panel page

  • Select iSCSI
  • Choose a target
  • Click edit.





 

  1. Edit target
    • Specify the target name
    • Enable CHAP
    • If you choose to enable CHAP, you can enable Mutual CHAP(option).
    • Choose an account
